CTET is a Central Teacher Eligibility Test in India, which is mandatory for teaching jobs in government school for class 1 to class 8. In India, CTET examinations are conducted by both state as well as the central government to improve the standard of teaching in the country.
CTET will be conducted two times every year by Central Board of Secondary Education to recruit the applicants for CBSE Schools.Candidates who will be able to qualify these papers will become eligible to become a teacher in government schools, whether it is a central or state government.
Qualifying Marks for CTET:
The qualifying marks for candidates as per their category are as follows:
- Candidates who scores 90 marks out of 150 marks, that is, 60% in the CTET will become eligible to apply for teaching jobs.
- Candidates who belong to reserved community/category and scores 82.5 marks out of 150 marks, that is, 55% in total in the CTET, can apply for the teaching posts.
CERTIFICATE VALIDITY OF CTET:
Candidates have to pay Rs.200- Rs.400 as per their category to get their certificate from CBSE authority. The certificate issued will have a validity of about 7 years from the date of issue of results.
Eligibility Criteria for CTET Examination:
The candidates should have the given minimum educational qualification to become eligible to appear for the CTET exams:
- Minimum Qualifications for becoming Teacher for Class I to class V:
- A candidate should pass class 12 or equivalent education with minimum 50% marks, and should have passed or appearing for final year of Diploma in Elementary Education (2 year course).
- A candidate should pass class 12 or equivalent education with minimum 45% marks, and should have passed or appearing for final year of Diploma in Elementary Education (2 year course) in accordance with the NCTE, Regulations, 2002.
- A candidate should pass class 12 or equivalent education with minimum 50% marks, and have cleared or appearing for final year of Bachelor in Elementary Education (4 year course).
- A candidate should pass class 12 or equivalent education with minimum 50% marks, and should have passed or appearing for final year of Diploma in Education (2 year course).
- Graduate and should have passed or appearing for final year of Diploma in Elementary Education (2 year course).
- Minimum Qualifications for becoming Teacher for Classes VI-VIII:
- A candidate must have completed Graduation and should have passed or appearing for final year of Diploma in Elementary Education (2-year course).
- A candidate must have Graduation certificate with at least 50% marks and must have passed or appearing for final exam of Bachelor in Education (1-year).
- A candidate must have completed Graduation with at least 45% marks and must have passed or appearing for final exam of Bachelor in Education (1- year course), in accordance with the NCTE Regulations issued from time to time in this regard.
- A candidate must have passed class 12th examination or must have equivalent education with at least 50% marks and have passed or appearing for final year of Bachelor in Elementary Education (4- year course).
- A candidate must have passed class 12th examination or must have equivalent education with at least 50% marks and have passed or appearing for final year of B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed (4- year course).
- A candidate must complete Graduation with at least 50% marks and must be passed or appearing of B.Ed. (Special Education) of 1 year.
NOTE: The candidates who belong to SC/ ST/ OBC category will have the relaxation of marks up to 5% in all the above stated qualifying examinations.
Examination Structure of CTET
CTET examination will consist of multiple choice questions which will have four options and candidate have to select the right answer. For each correct answer, candidate will gain one mark. No negative marking will be there for any wrong attempt.
CTET will be conducted in two stages, which are as follows:
Paper 1: It is a primary stage, where the eligibility of the candidate will be tested for class 1 to 5.
Paper 2: It is an elementary stage, where the eligibility of the candidate will be tested for class 6 to 8.
NOTE: candidate who will to teach the classes from class 1-8 have to appear for both the examinations.

The paper 1 will be of 180 minutes, and will be consisted of the following sections:
