IBPS Specialist Officers : A Complete Guide to Crack IBPS SO in First Attempt

Institute of Banking Personnel Selection conducts Specialist Officer Examination to recruit candidates for various fields such as IT, Agriculture Field Officer, Rajbhasha Adhikari, Law Officer, HR/ Personnel Officer, Chartered Accountants, Marketing Officer, and Finance Executive etc. for various public sector banks and private sector banks.

Candidates can apply for the examination only if they satisfy the eligibility criteria set for the examination.

The IBPS SO exam will be conducted in the month of February, which basically includes two levels that is:

  • Common Written Examination
  • Interview

The candidates who will clear the Common written exam will be called for interview session after which recruitment to the candidates will be done by the IBPS participating banks.

IBPS SO Exam Syllabus

IBPS SO exam will be having four subjects that are Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, English, and Professional Knowledge. But in case of Rajbhasha Adhikari and Law Officer, candidates have to prepare for General Knowledge topic instead of quantitative aptitude topic.

The candidates need to prepare for the following given topic for each of these papers:

1.IBPS SO Reasoning Syllabus: Reasoning paper will be of 50 marks out of 200; hence, the candidate should focus thoroughly on this paper for IBPS Specialist Officer Examination. This paper will include all the logical reason questions which includes conclusion from premises and facts, and forming judgments. The questions will be based on Verbal and non verbal reasoning, which will have topics such as:

  • Logical Reasoning Topics: It will have Data Sufficiency, Eligibility Test, Syllogism, Coding-Decoding, Blood Relation, Input-Output, Analogy, Puzzle Test, Direction Sense, Arrangements-Linear & Circular, Logical Venn Diagrams, and Alphabet & Alpha Numeric Sequence Test.
  • Non-Verbal Reasoning Topics: It will have Analogy, Series test, miscellaneous test, Odd figures.

2.IBPS SO English Syllabus: it will cover

  • Vocabulary means synonyms, homonyms, antonyms, word formation, and sentence completion;
  • Rearrangement of passage, spelling, and sentence;
  • Comprehension means theme detection, deriving conclusion, and passage completion;
  • Grammar which means set of rules passive, active voice, direct. indirect speech; and
  • General usage means idioms and phrases.

 

3.IBPS SO Quantitative Aptitude Syllabus: It will include the subjects such as Data Interpretation and Arithmetic. Through this test the speed and accuracy of the candidate are measured in order to deal with the numbers such as computation, interpretation of tables and graphs, and quantitative reasoning.

4.IBPS SO General Awareness Syllabus: Under this examination of IBPS Specialist Officer, the course of the General awareness paper will include all Current Affairs, mainly reference to Banking Industry. Even the question will be asked from Indian Economy, International Economy, Marketing, UNO, Indian Constitution, Finance, Awards & Honors Sports, Agriculture, etc. current affairs of last six months, History of Banking, countries /currencies, Banking Terms, Books & Their Authors, Fiscal-Monetary Policies RBI Questions for IBPS, and Social Function of Banks.

This test is conducted to measure the awareness of the candidate about the past and present events, awareness of banking industry and socio- economic developments.

5.IBPS SO Professional Knowledge Syllabus: it will include the topics from all fields such as Law Officer, IT Officer, Chartered Accountant, etc. It will further include the topics from Data Base Management System and Data networking and Communication, Operating system and its functions, software engineering, Computer organization + hardware, Data Structure, Programming Languages Basic and Web Technologies, etc.

Candidates have to prepare for the IBPS Specialist Officer Examination from the above given topics as per their field of specialization.

IBPS SO exam Preparation Tips

Candidates who pass their specialization courses can apply for the specialist officer post. To prepare for the SO examination, it is important for the candidates to know two basic details about the examination, that is, examination pattern and syllabus.
