Job Details

ICRISAT seeks application from Indian Nationals for the post of Junior Research Fellow: Crop Physiology - GEMS team. The position is based at ICRISAT headquarters in Patancheru, Hyderabad, Telangana.

Essential criteria: Master degree in Technology, Statistics, Biometrics, Mathematics with good understanding of Plant Biology and Genetics or related disciplines,Image processing, 3D point cloud analysis, algorithm implementation Meshlab,Programming skills (R, C++) and big data management, high-performance computing.

 
Proficiency in written and spoken English, Ability to interact effectively in a multi-cultural and multidisciplinary environment, Creativity and ability to work independently and in a team-based environment, Ability to draft high-quality research articles 
 
Desirable Criteria: Background in quantitative genetics (e.g. QTL, GWAS mapping),crops stress physiology and molecular biology is an advantage, Insight into agricultural production systems ,General: This is a Consolidated (CON) position for two years renewable based on the performance of the incumbent and the institute's continuing need for the position.

Organisation Profile : The International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) is an international organisation which conducts agricultural research for rural development, headquartered in Patancheru (Hyderabad, Telangana, India) with several regional centers (Bamako (Mali), Nairobi (Kenya)) and research stations (Niamey (Niger), Kano (Nigeria), Lilongwe (Malawi), Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), Bulawayo (Zimbabwe)). It was founded in 1972 by a consortium of organisations convened by the Ford and the Rockefeller Foundations. Its charter was signed by the FAO and the UNDP. Since its inception, host country India has granted a special status to International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropicsas a UN Organisation operating in the Indian territory making it eligible for special immunities and tax privileges.
