Research Associate-I Physics recruitment in Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science (IACS)  purely on temporary basis

Research Area : Gravitation, Cosmology, Astrophysics and High Energy Physics Essential Qualifications : A candidate should have a first or high second class M. Sc. degree in Physics with minimum average of 55% marks in B.Sc.(Hons.) and M.Sc. examination along with good overall academic record and has obtained Ph.D. or due to submit thesis within three months with considerable research experience by publications in peer reviewed journals preferably in the field of Extra-dimensional/Higher Curvature Gravity and Physics of black hole accretion. A candidate who is expected to submit her/his Ph.D. thesis within three months from the deadline for this application mentioned above may also apply with a separate declaration letter given by the candidate supervisor mentioning the above three-month time-limit. This has to be submitted by the candidate along with her/ his application. Desirable: A candidate having proven expertise in the field of Extra-dimensional/Higher Curvature Gravity and Physics of black hole accretion is desirable.

i) A selected candidate holding a Ph.D. degree at the time of joining will receive the fellowship of the RA-I position from the date of joining. ii) A selected candidate who is yet to receive Ph.D. degree may join only after the submission of her/his thesis within the time-limit mentioned earlier subject to documentary proof of the thesis submission. Such candidates will draw a fellowship amount as appropriate to a bridge fellowship as per the rules of IACS and will be eligible to receive the full RA-I fellowship from the award date of the doctoral degree, supported by documentary proof. Tenure of Fellowship: 2 years from the date of joining as RA-I, subject to an evaluation after one year as per the rules of the Institute. Number of post : 1 Fellowship: Rs.47,000/- (for RA-I) or ` 35,000/- (Bridge Fellow) per month + HRA as per rules of the Association.

Walk-in interview will be held in the School of Physical Sciences, IACS by 20th June, 2019. The subject line of the e-mail should be Full Name of the Candidate followed by 'Application for RA-I/SSG/SPS/JUNE/2019'. 


Organisation Profile :

Founded on July 29, 1876 by Dr Mahendra Lal Sircar, IACS is the oldest institute in India devoted to the pursuit of fundamental research in the frontier areas of basic sciences. Professor C V Raman worked at IACS during 1907 to 1933, and it is here that he discovered the celebrated Effect that bears his name and for which he was awarded Nobel Prize in Physics in 1930.
