Organisation Profile :
The Assam State HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control Policy aims to halt and reverse the AIDS epidemic in the State to zero transmission rate and to reduce the impact of the epidemic at all levels of general population. The AIDS Control Programme in Assam started as the State AIDS Cell which was established in 1992 in the office of the Director of Health Services, Assam under the National AIDS Control Organization (NACO) and it implemented the National AIDS Control Programme ((NACP) Phase I from 1992 to 1998. In October, 1998 the Assam State AIDS Control Society was formed and registered under the Societies Registration act as per directive given by Government of India. Since then Assam State AIDS Control Society has implemented the Phase II (1999-2007) and Phase III (2007-till date). The Fourth Phase of the National AIDS Control Programme will be rolled out from the second half of 2012
