Women Scientists Scheme (WOS) is a flagship programme of KIRAN Division of Department of Science & Technology (DST). Through one of its components- '˜Women Scientists Scheme-C (WOS-C)'- it provides one year on-the-job training in the area of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR). Patent Facilitating Centre (PFC) of Technology Information, Forecasting and Assessment Council (TIFAC) has been entrusted with implementation of WOS-C.

Eligibility : (1) Women with Indian citizenship (2) Minimum Essential Qualification: Master of Science; Bachelors in Engineering/Technology or equivalent.
Desirable : (a) Proficient in handling computerized database, collection, collation, analysis and report preparation. (b) Basic understanding of various IPR aspects & issues with logical aptitude towards scientific developments across the world. Experience in research, preparation of project reports, term papers and similar activities.
Stipend
MSc in Basic or Applied Sciences/BTech/MBBS or equivalent degree : Rs. 20,000/- pm
M.Phil/MTech/M.Pharma/MVSc or equivalent degree : Rs. 25,000/- pm
PhD in Basic or Applied Sciences or equivalent degree : Rs. 30,000/- pm
Training
Training will include one month of intensive orientation programme on IPR at New Delhi followed by specialized workshops and hands-on-training in agencies engaged in practicing of IPR for the rest of the period. Total duration of the training is one year. A certificate is issued to the candidates after completion of the training.
Age Limit : Minimum 27 years; Maximum 45 years as on 20-03-2019
Selection Procedure: Selection will be through an all India online examination and interview. Shortlisted candidates meeting the eligibility criteria will be called for the online test. The online exam will be conducted simultaneously at all Examination Centres on the same date under the supervision of PFC and respective Coordination Centres. A merit list will be drawn after the online exam for the purpose of interview and such successful candidates will be informed. The online exam will be mainly objective in nature, having negative marking and aimed at determining the analytical, scientific and technical abilities. Similarly, interviews will be held at the Coordination Centres.
Examination Centres: Examination Centres are those centres which the candidate has to choose only for appearing in the examination. A candidate while filling the online form will have the option to choose three cities in order of preference where she can appear for the exam. Examination Centres are of two types :

First two choices include both Fixed and Floating Centres and the third choice is for Fixed Centre only. A fixed centre is that centre where exam will be held definitely. Choosing a centre from the fixed centre is mandatory.
