SCHOOL LIFE The school is basically divided into an academic block and hostel buildings inter-spersed with landscaped lawns and playing fields. The academic block is a two storeyed structure; its spacious classrooms have been designed to optimise natural light and ventilation. Specially designed, modern, ergonomic furniture ensures that pupils do not suffer fatigue. The school has five hostel blocks. Each hostel block is a two storeyed structure divided into dormitories, residential flats, common rooms and a study room for students. They accommodate the students, the house masters, tutors, the ward boys / the ayahs. The modern science and computer laboratories, the audio/visual room and the art activity centers are also housed in the academic block. The school has five hostel blocks. Each hostel block is a two storeyed structure divided into dormitories, residential flats, common rooms and a study room for students. They accommodate the students, the house masters, tutors, the ward boys/ the ayahs. The residential hostels have been designed to give comfort, privacy and safety to the students. Each hostel block houses 144 or 108 boys, cared for by the house master, two or three house tutors, a ward boy or a matron. The house master maintains medical, academic and personal progress records of the wards in his care. He and the house tutors are always accessible to the students and form a close network of advice and counsel. Dormitories are spacious and well ventilated with all modern amenities. Each dormitory houses 18 boys and is designed to allow for privacy and a separate niche and cupboard for each boy. The common bathrooms are fitted with modern conveniences. Senior boys (classes X) have much more privacy with twin-sharing rooms to call their own. Each hostel block has a large, cheerful common room where the boys can enjoy their hours of leisure. Each common room is equipped with a music system and a television where defined channels are available from the school"s dish antenna. KITCHEN & DINING The dining hall is located conveniently in a separate building and is easily accessible from the various hostel blocks. Food is prepared strictly in hygienic conditions under the supervision of an experienced Mess Manager. The kitchen is equipped with a deep freezer, a water cooler, modern cooking gadgets and a bakery. . An expert dietician ensures that the boys enjoy well-balanced, nutritious, vegetarian meals and involves the boys in the process of defining the weekly menu with their suggestions. Dietician also takes care of specific dietary requirements. The teachers take their meals in the central dining hall, which helps them become familiar with boy"s activities and concerns. These informal mealtime conversations give boys a chance to mix with the faculty without making an appointment or sitting in an office. Because they interact with the faculty in a variety of ways, boys feel that they can approach their teachers in order to ask questions and to learn.
