AIIMS MBBS Exam 2016:A Complete Guide to Prepare and Crack MBBS Exam

All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) is a medical research and educational institute run by the Indian government that conducts an annual entrance exam for admission to courses in medicine. Lakhs and lakhs of students compete for admission to such a prestigious institute. Cracking such an exam is considered a difficult task because of constant updating of syllabus and course content, alongwith higher standard of questions. Most of the medical students aspire to be a part of such an institute that takes them closer to their dream of becoming a doctor. Therefore, we at EducationForever have tried to put together certain tips and tricks to clear this exam. We have also tried to give an overview of AIIMS 2016 Exam.

Exam pattern and Duration- AIIMS MBBS 2016 Exam will be conducted both online and offline, so the candidates are requested to give their preferences while filling up the application form. The application can be filled online on the institutes official website or collected and submitted in person at the notified centre. The duration of the exam will be 3.5 hours, with 200 multiple choice and reasoning type questions from Physics, Chemistry, Biology and General Knowledge. Candidates will be awarded one mark for each correct answer. There are no marks for questions not answered. In case of more than one response to a question it will be treated as wrong and will be negatively marked. There is negative marking for incorrect answers, i.e. one-third marks will be deducted for every incorrect answer.

The question will be available both in English and Hindi and so the candidate is supposed to mention their preference during AIIMS online application. The choice cannot be changed after successful submission of online application.

Syllabus- No specific syllabus is prescribed by the examination authority and the questions are supposed to be based on 10+2 pattern or intermediate science.

Seat and reservation- AIIMS has six other institutes apart from AIIMS Delhi. It has 672 seats in total with 72 seats for AIIMS Delhi. Those who have cleared Higher Secondary Examination from a recognized Board and have secured an aggregate of 60 % in subjects like Biology, Chemistry, Physics and English are eligible candidates.

 

Preparation Strategy- Firstly you must prepare a study plan in which you must distribute the syllabus in a day wise or weekly schedule. It should be prepared in such a way that the whole syllabus is covered and each topic is allotted ample time. You must also decide whether you want to go for coaching or self study.

Regularly solve Test Papers and Previous Year Question Papers. This has a dual advantage i.e. it improves your solving speed as well as boosts your confidence. Regular solving of old question papers gives you the idea of the questions that are frequently asked and you get acquainted with the general pattern of the question as well. And you must also take up mock tests. You can look for books that guide you in preparation. Such books can clear your fundamentals as well as provide you with tricks, tips and suitable strategies.
