Board Of Secondary Education Andhra Pradesh is an independent department functioning under ministry of secondary education, Government of Andhra Pradesh. The department is responsible for conducting the SSC/OSSC Public Examinations. Board of Secondary Education of Andhra Pradesh also known as the Directorate of Government Examinations. It was established in 1953 and functions as an autonomous body under the Andhra Pradesh's Department of Education. It executes and governs various activities that include devising of courses of study, prescribing syllabus, conducting examinations, granting recognitions to schools and, providing direction, support and leadership for all secondary educational institutions under its jurisdiction.
Established in 1953 to supervise and regulate various schools established before the board. The Board was located at Chapel Road opposite to Stanley Girls High School. Now it is located in Vijayawada.
