Online Applications are invited from young, bright and highly motivated individuals for the following regular positions to work at IIA, Bengaluru and its other field stations/campuses. IIA reserves the right of posting the selected candidates at any of the IIA facilities as and when required. 1. Name of the Post : Junior Research Assistant (Observations)
2. No. of posts : Two (SC-1, EWS-1)
3. Scale of pay : VII CPC Pay Matrix Level-4 (Pay Range Rs.25500-81100)
4. Place of posting : CREST Campus, Hosakote (Karnataka)
5. Qualification:
(a) Essential: B.Sc in Physics / Maths / Chemistry or B.Sc. in Information Technology or Electronics or BCA or equivalent with at least 60% marks in the aggregate from a recognized university / institute.
b) Desirable: Knowledge of instrumentation and computers.
6. Experience : (a) Essential: Minimum 2 years experience in College / University laboratory or in a research laboratory of an R & D organization.
(b) Desirable: Experience with astronomical telescopes.
7. Job description:
Support to Guest astronomers observing with the 2m Himalayan Chandra Telescope using the remote observing facility at CREST. The job involves working through specific number of nights in each month, and other support activities during the remaining day.
