The recruitment is a part of ICSSR funded project titled Long Term Care of Adults with Developmental Disability (02/89/2019-2020/MN/ICSSR/RP). The research project aims to examine the experiences of parents engaged in Long-Term Care to an Adult with Development Disability. The locale of the study is the rural villages of the Marathwada region of Maharashtra.
1. Name of the Post: Research Assistant
2. Role and responsibilities: The work of the Research Assistant entails the collection of data such list of people with disabilities from the social welfare department and other sources, recruitment of research participants, conducting interviews, transcription and translation of interview transcripts, collection of relevant literature and organizing qualitative data using ATLAS.ti and other qualitative research analysis of software.
3. Remuneration: Rs.16, 000/- p.m.
4. Duration: 6 Months.
5. Educational Qualification:
a) Postgraduate in a social science discipline (55% minimum) with NET /M.Phil. / Ph.D.
b) Candidates with Masters in Social Work Degree and Research Experience/ Fieldwork experience of three years in rural settings are preferred.
c) Proficiency in Marathi and English: Research Assistant has to conduct in-depth interviews with the research participants, and it has to be translated into English.
d) Ability to conduct rural fieldwork independently : The Research Assistant has to travel extensively in the villages and conduct the interview according to the convenient timing of research participants, which may be beyond the regular office hours. The Research Assistant may have to stay in village settings if required. Travelling arrangement and stay arrangement has to be managed independently.
e) Good report writing and analysis skills: The Research Assistant needs sound reporting skills in Marathi and English. Apart from it, the Research Assistant should be familiar with research methods.
